Financial Lease is the leasing solution for entrepreneurs who want to use a business asset and ultimately own it. At De Nederlandse Leasemaatschappij (NLM) you become the economic owner from day one, and after the final instalment you also become the legal owner for a symbolic amount. This way you combine the flexibility of business leasing with the benefits of ownership.
How does Financial Lease work?
With Financial Lease you become the economic owner of the asset from the moment of purchase. That means you may capitalise the asset on your balance sheet and depreciate it, even while the lease contract is still running. After paying the final lease instalment and the symbolic purchase option (often just one euro), you also become the legal owner.
We always match the term of a Financial Lease contract to the asset being leased, in consultation with you and - where relevant - the supplier. This way the financing aligns precisely with the lifespan and the use of your business asset.
Advantages of Financial Lease at NLM
Ownership at the end of the term
After the final instalment and the symbolic purchase option you become the full legal owner of the asset.
Capitalise and depreciate immediately
You capitalise the asset on your balance sheet from day one and benefit from the available tax depreciation options.
Benefit from subsidy schemes
Think of the Dutch investment premium scheme and the VAMIL, EIA and FARBO schemes.
Fixed, predictable monthly costs
You know exactly where you stand in advance, with no surprises during the term.
Who is Financial Lease suitable for?
Financial Lease is ideal for entrepreneurs who want to acquire machinery, commercial vehicles or other capital goods without financing them entirely from their own resources. By making smart use of financial lease you keep capital free for the growth of your business. We work with suppliers who now generate up to 70% of their turnover through lease products - a sign of how much confidence entrepreneurs place in this form of financing.
Sole traders and self-employed professionals can take out financial lease as well. We look at your annual accounts and at the asset, not at your legal form. Read more on leasing for the self-employed.
Financial Lease or Operational Lease?
Not sure whether financial lease or operational lease suits you best? With Operational Lease NLM remains the owner of the asset and we arrange maintenance and insurance, whereas Financial Lease takes you towards ownership. Tax benefits & subsidies
With financial lease you are usually the economic owner of the asset. That means you can often use tax schemes such as the investment allowance (KIA, EIA or MIA/Vamil) yourself and benefit directly. See tax benefits & subsidies.
