Looking to finance a mobile home? De Nederlandse Leasemaatschappij (NLM) in Sneek arranges mobile home and residential caravan finance throughout the Netherlands — new or used. You tell us which unit you have in mind, and from there we look at whether the monthly payments fit your situation.
You choose the unit, we look at the figures
When financing a mobile home we reverse the usual order. Elsewhere the security decides whether the conversation continues. With us your situation decides: you tell us which unit you want to buy, and we assess whether the monthly commitments are manageable.
That sounds like a detail, but it changes the whole conversation. Anyone arriving with a unit that falls outside a standard template does not get a no before anyone has looked. We have financed capital assets for over twenty years, and we know that an application which does not fit a box is not for that reason a bad application.
Buying a mobile home is rarely an impulse decision. Most people know exactly which unit they want, which builder or dealer has it, and what it should cost. That knowledge is the starting point of the application, not something we talk over.
A new mobile home or a used one
We finance both. What differs in the assessment is mainly how the value is established.
A new unit
The purchase value is fixed on the builder's quotation. The layout, the finish and the options are known, and there is a warranty. The assessment then centres on the monthly payments and on your situation.
A used unit
Here one further question arises: what is this unit worth, and how much life does it have left? Condition, maintenance, layout and installations together determine that — and we assess it per unit rather than from a table.
Have you found a used mobile home and are you wondering whether it can be financed? Put it to us. We would rather tell you honestly where the limit lies than leave you guessing.
Travelling with you or staying in one place
A mobile home is used in very different ways, and that affects how the finance is best structured.
A unit that travels
If it moves around the country with you, it is part of how you work. Wear, relocation and the season then weigh in on the term and the structure.
A unit that stays put
If it remains in one place the picture is calmer: less movement, more predictable use. That usually translates into a longer term.
A unit alongside other equipment
Do you have other assets running or on order? Then we look at the whole picture rather than at separate applications that get in each other's way.
When your income is not the same every month
Many people do not earn their money in twelve equal months. There are busy periods and quiet ones, and at the end of the year the total is perfectly sound — just not evenly spread.
That is where a standard assessment breaks down. A system looking for twelve equal monthly figures sees a problem in the quiet months that is not there.
We look at what comes in across the year and at whether the commitments fit alongside it. That is a conversation rather than a tick box, and it is one of the reasons people reach us after being turned down elsewhere.
Where you buy a mobile home
A mobile home comes from several directions, and each route works slightly differently. These are the ones we see in practice:
From a builder
Built to order. Quotation, delivery date and warranty are arranged. Allow for a build period and for staged payments during construction.
Through the trade
Common for used units. Watch for a proper invoice and for clarity on what is and is not included — fittings, installations, transport.
From a private seller
This happens regularly. With no dealer in between, we generally look more closely at the valuation and the paperwork.
Taking over an existing unit
Taking over a unit that is already sited? That comes with its own valuation, separate from whatever was once paid for it.
A unit from abroad
Imports occur. Consider transport, VAT, inspection and who is responsible for what before you commit.
Still looking around
You do not need to have bought the unit yet. We are happy to look with you in advance, so you know where you stand before committing to anything.
What we look at in an application
These points together form the picture. None of them is decisive on its own:
The figures
What comes in across the year, and what goes out? This is the heaviest part of the assessment.
Existing commitments
What finance is already running, and how much room is left? Being open about this helps — we will find it anyway.
The unit itself
What you are buying, what it costs, and what it will still be worth in a few years. With a used unit this weighs more heavily than with new build.
The term requested
A term that matches the use and the monthly payments. Shorter means higher instalments but less interest over the full run.
Your own contribution
A down payment is not always required, but it does strengthen an application — certainly when the rest of the picture is tight.
The story behind it
Figures do not tell everything. If there is an explanation behind a weaker year, we would rather hear it up front than have to guess at it.
What you need in order to apply
You do not have to build a file before contacting us. With this list we can almost always give a first indication:
- Which mobile home you have in mind and what it costs — a link or a quotation is enough
- Your company details and Chamber of Commerce number
- The most recent annual figures, or an overview if there are none yet
- What finance is currently running
- The amount you want to finance and the term you have in mind
Something missing? That is no reason to wait. Get in touch with what you do have and we will tell you what else is needed.
Which form of finance suits your mobile home?
If you want to become the owner, Financial Lease is the obvious route: you become the economic owner immediately and the unit appears on your balance sheet. If you already own a mobile home and want to release the capital tied up in it, sale and lease back is an option — you sell the unit to us, receive its value in cash and carry on using it. You can also see our full overview of business lease options and of everything else we finance.
Frequently asked questions about mobile home finance
Can I finance a used mobile home?
Yes. We finance both new mobile homes and used ones. With a used unit we look at condition, maintenance and installations, and assess per unit what is possible.
Do I have to have bought the unit before applying?
No. You can apply as soon as you know which unit you have in mind. Many people put it to us beforehand precisely so they know where they stand before committing.
What if my income varies from period to period?
That is not an obstacle. We look at what comes in across the year rather than at twelve equal months, and match the term and structure to it.
Can I finance a mobile home and another asset at the same time?
You can. If there is another purchase running alongside it, we look at the whole picture rather than at separate applications that get in each other's way.
How long before I have an answer?
We usually give a first indication quickly. How soon the application is then completed depends on how complete the information is and on the asset itself.
What do I need in order to apply?
The unit you want to buy with its price, your company details and Chamber of Commerce number, your most recent figures, and an overview of the finance currently running.
