Investing in business assets should not drain your working capital. At De Nederlandse Leasemaatschappij (NLM) you will find every lease option under one roof: from financial lease and operational lease to business lease and sale and lease back. On this page we compare the lease types side by side so you can quickly see which form of finance fits your investment – whether that is a company car, a machine park or a fairground attraction.
Which lease types does NLM offer?
Every entrepreneur has a different balance sheet, a different investment rhythm and different tax priorities. That is why we work with four main lease types. They differ mainly in ownership, balance sheet treatment and who carries the risk. Follow the links for the full explanation of each lease type.
Financial Lease
You become the economic owner and capitalise the asset on your balance sheet immediately. Ideal if you want to depreciate, use investment allowances and eventually own the asset.
Operational Lease
Use without ownership. Maintenance, insurance and residual value risk stay with the lease company. You pay a fixed monthly amount and keep your balance sheet clean.
Business Lease
The umbrella term for business finance of capital assets from € 3,000. Together we set the term, the down payment and the final instalment.
Sale and Lease Back
Sell machinery or vehicles you already own to us and lease them straight back. This releases capital that is tied up in assets without interrupting your operations.
What can you lease at De Nederlandse Leasemaatschappij?
Almost any business asset with a recognisable market value qualifies for lease. We finance both new and used equipment, taking the residual value and its role within your company into account.
Car lease
Company cars, vans and complete fleets – new or used, with or without a maintenance contract.
New and used machinery
Production machinery, earthmoving equipment, forklifts and processing machines for industry, construction and agriculture.
Fairground attractions
An NLM speciality: finance for rides, trailers and related operating equipment.
Mobile home financing
New and used mobile homes. You tell us which unit you have in mind, we look at the monthly payments.
Business inventory and equipment
From kitchen installations and medical equipment to IT, solar panels and sustainability projects.
Financial lease or operational lease: what is the difference?
The most common question when choosing between lease options is the difference between financial and operational lease. In short: with financial lease you buy the asset with borrowed money and it appears on your balance sheet; with operational lease you pay for the use and the asset remains the property of the lease company.
Do you want to keep the asset at the end of the term, depreciate it and benefit from tax schemes such as the Dutch small-scale investment allowance? Then financial lease is usually the logical choice. Do you prefer complete peace of mind, fixed monthly costs including maintenance and no residual value risk? Then operational lease is the better fit. Not sure? Our advisers will calculate both scenarios for you free of charge.

Frequently asked questions about lease options
What is the minimum lease amount?
At NLM you can lease business assets from € 3,000. There is no fixed maximum for larger investments; we assess every application on the asset and on your company.
Can I lease a used asset?
Yes. We regularly finance used machinery, second-hand vehicles and attractions. The age and expected residual value determine the maximum term.
Is leasing possible for a start-up?
Start-ups are welcome. We look at your business plan, the nature of the asset and, where useful, a down payment to make the application work.
How much does leasing cost per month?
The monthly instalment depends on the investment amount, the term, the down payment and the final instalment.
Can I lease an asset I already own?
Yes, through sale and lease back. You sell the asset to NLM and lease it back immediately, which frees up liquidity.
